Team Spotlight – Cristian Popa

In the intricate dance of development, QA engineers are the rhythm that ensures every step is precise and every performance flawless. They are the silent guardians of excellence, turning the vision of our tech startup into a masterpiece of reliability.

Why is QA your field of choice?
Because I like to do things better and help any Dev team to provide a product with better quality (After I break them).

Can you share a memorable team moment or achievement?
There are numerous beautiful moments and modest accomplishments that collectively establish a foundation for future achievements and productive collaboration with the development team. This includes establishing team workflows with QA and stage environments, creating an efficient structure for both manual and automated test cases within this environment and framework, and proactively identifying and resolving potential future issues at an early stage, all while preparing contingency plans. And the most exciting developments are yet to come…

What’s something you’d like non-tech users to know about what you do?
“Exhaustive testing is impossible.” There are infinite combinations that can be done so QA is not like a wall that stops every bug and issue but more like a Police Department captain who does his best to use his limited resources in the best way possible to find and stop as many criminals (bugs xD) as possible. Permanently checking the high-crime areas in his town; concentrating his resources on catching the most dangerous criminals but also not forgetting about simple crime; Developing his infrastructure and permanently adding new ways and equipment; etc.

What’s your go-to playlist or music genre when working?
This is hard… Rock, hard rock, classic, pop, dance, house… Depending on the workload… Last month was Hard Rock.

Coffee or tea? Or something else entirely when working?
Tea

Team Spotlight – Nelly Cechina

Our journey is marked not just by the goals achieved, but by the teamwork and perseverance that got us here. Our incredible teams’ talents and enthusiasm make every challenge a stepping stone.

How did you first get into software development?
My journey into software development started during my university years, where I initially immersed myself in the field. I continued to improve my skills by independently taking courses and learning opportunities.

Can you share a memorable team moment or achievement?
I find great satisfaction in accomplishing tasks that follow meticulous investigation and strategic implementation planning within the team. It’s these moments of success that truly stand out for me.

What’s something you wish non-developers knew about what you do?
I hope non-developers can understand that it’s not just about writing code, it involves logic, continuous learning, and problem-solving. The process demands patience, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively to create innovative solutions.

What’s your go-to playlist or music genre when coding?
My choice of playlist or music genre while coding varies widely, ranging from calming tunes to energetic rock beats. It all depends on the mood at the moment.

Coffee or tea? Or something else entirely when coding?
My beverage choice varies with the changing seasons. During colder days, I tend to lean towards tea with lemon, whereas, in warmer weather, I typically opt for coffee.

Team Spotlight – Maxim Neescas

Behind every successful innovation are the unseen hours of dedication and the brilliant minds that dared to dream big. Our team’s passion is the spark that ignites our collective success.

How did you first get into software development?
It all started at university. I entered the IT specialty, and during my studies, I found an internship, so I got into the current team and project.

Can you share a memorable team moment or achievement?
Every day with my team is memorable and every day we solve new and interesting challenges. But if I have to single out the most interesting one, it’s Hackathon 2022. We all came together with ideas to improve Synkwise and worked on our ideas for a week, helping each other in parallel.

What’s something you wish non-developers knew about what you do?
I am a Software developer and for many people that means a regular programmer who writes code. However, this is not the case. Software development is a whole complex of solving problems and challenges. And of course, you can’t do it without a reliable team, as well as without daily self-development to stay on the level.

What’s your go-to playlist or music genre when coding?
I listen to a wide variety of music, but while coding most of the time it’s rock.

Coffee or tea? Or something else entirely when coding?
Definitely coffee, no work day starts without it.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself or the Synkwise project worth mentioning?
Every day I work on Synkwise, which makes people’s lives easier and I think that’s the most important thing I’m doing at this point in my life – helping others.

Team Spotlight – Ion Topala

In the world of code and pixels, where innovation meets dedication, our team shines brightest. Our creativity and commitment turn challenges into opportunities, driving our journey forward. Together, we’re not just building a product; we’re crafting the future.

How did you first get into software development?
I’ve studied Networking at college for about 4 years and by the end of it I realized that I wanted to do something else than configuring and maintaining networks. As a result, I chose to pursue further education in creating and developing products and I applied to a university program aligned with my new aspirations.

Can you share a memorable team moment or achievement?
I think when I get the opportunity to work on a Windows service that communicates with our website. I could learn something really new for me and create an installer that will automatically register the new app.

What’s something you wish non-developers knew about what you do?
Sometimes, a specific functionality can be developed within a day, but in other cases, even seemingly straightforward tasks might require additional time due to architectural limitations, constraints, or other factors.

What’s your go-to playlist or music genre when coding?
I actually have two main playlists one with Indie music and another one with depressing and quiet songs, it depends on the mood actually. However, I listen to a lot of types of music.

Coffee or tea? Or something else entirely when coding?
There is beauty in simplicity – these words describe very well what tea represents to me, so definitely tea.

Stay compliant with Inspection Analysis Synkwise

Adult Family Home Compliance with Inspection Analysis

Note: Inspection analysis is available for WA State Only Customers (for now).

Healthcare is an at-risk industry that is highly regulated in just about everything: HIPPA security standards, minimum licensing requirements, narcotic dispense regulations, charting accuracy and so much more. Maintaining compliance is everything when it comes to protecting your facility and the resident patients under your watch. Care Providers are responsible for meeting the requirements of the current Washington Administrative Codes (WAC’s) & Revised Codes of Washington (RCW’s). If your facility does not correspond to industry norms and laws, you’re exposing yourself to citations and elevated liability.

Stay compliant with Inspection Analysis

Let’s take a look at how the Synkwise Inspection Analysis works and helps improve compliance. Our solution audit’s all documents (Provider, Resident, and Employee records).

The Diagnostics module is divided into three main sections:

Facility Records

It audits all facility records, such as mock inspections, evacuation drills to be completed every two months, business license validation, and documents related to Facility Policies and Procedures.

Resident Care
Resident Records

This section checks all resident records: assessments, care plans, Physician orders, missed medications, PRN’s medication follow-up documents, and other legal documents.

Employee Records

This section tracks all employee records: hire date, credential requirements for all care staff, required training, continued education documents, etc.

Here are some of the main features of the Inspection Analysis in a nutshell:

Expiration Dates

The inspection module allows you to verify the expiration dates of each critical document easily. Once running the analysis, the outdated documents are reflected in the total score and marked with a red indicator. There is a possibility to set a new expiration date for an outdated document inside the rule.

Inspection Preferences

Our Inspection Preferences allow you to easily disable or enable a rule depending on your facility’s preferences or applicability. Always pursue best practices!

Other Features

You can easily give licensor access to the Inspection or print the Current Inspection Report. Useful lifehack: in order to take off a licensor or family account from the Inspection, you can mark them as Non-Employee in Update Staff Information so that their presence in the list of employees does not affect the final score.

To conclude, Inspection Analysis is used to assess and document the current state of compliance oversight and management, as well as helps to keep track of missing or expiring documents and dates for a staff account, resident, and facility. Washington State has one of the most stringent licensing standards in the nation for Long-Term Residential Care Settings. These requirements are highly complex; they change frequently, often requiring operational and workflow changes, ongoing education, internal audits, health IT compliance updates, and more.

Additionally, DSHS licensors inspect licensed homes and providers every 10 to 18 months on average. Inspections take place without warning. Therefore, providers must comply at all times.

Compliance Analysis is crucial to creating a safe, high-performing, high-reliability environment. Our mission is to ensure that everyone in your organization understands how their actions contribute to healthcare compliance and the target inspection score. Top 5 benefits of using an eMAR

In today’s digital era, the usage of electronic medical and health records in long-term care facilities is rather limited; but it is a necessity and a key factor to success. Why?

Here are the top 5 reasons why using eMAR (electronic Medication Administration Record) can benefit your Healthcare Facility:

1. The highest standard of medication administration

Medication mistakes are one of the most prevalent errors hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare facilities want to avoid at all costs. eMAR enhances med passing workflow by drastically minimizing the number of labor hours spent on medication distribution and paper-based record keeping as well as the possibility of drug-related mistakes such as improper dosing or incorrect route of administration.

2. Pharmacy Integrations

Direct connection with your pharmacy enhances communication flow and helps to increase the accuracy of each resident’s medication list. Pharmacy delivers medicine orders directly to the Pharmacy module within eMAR so that all resident’s MARs are precise and up-to-date. Discontinued and dispensed orders are accurately communicated; as well as expiring medications are handled in a timely manner.

3. Using Mobile Devices

Caregivers can utilize any portable device to record when the medication is administered to the patient and can add any relevant notes, such as the drug that was not given, refused, and why. This data is automatically inserted into the medication log in real-time. Less emphasis on paperwork and more time spent with the patient improves efficiency and quality.

4. Easy Reporting

Making monthly reports with paper-based MAR sheets is a huge task. To prepare a report, the care home staff must manually go through each and every piece of paper. They can quickly prepare monthly reports with eMAR.  Every medication, care task, and vital record is fully documented. More accurate medication records and other patient histories are just one click away. Staff members can create detailed reports that span days, weeks, months, or even years, in addition to monthly reports.

5. Compliance is ensured

Synkwise’s eMAR allows performing the audit of Med Log so that the physicians or nurses can instantly view the late medication passes. Furthermore, we bridge the gap across the spectrum of care since eMAR is integrated with other modules: Dashboard, Health Monitor, Inspection, etc. Every medication, care task, and vital record is fully documented. With this implementation, staff members have a wide range of resident’s information. This leads to enhanced resident safety.

To top it off, eMAR is a valuable tool that greatly reduces the time spent on documentation and the risk of mistakes or delays during the administration process. More accurate medication records and other patient histories are just one click away. Book a demo to explore how eMAR can improve productivity at your Facility.

Managing Care for an Aging Family Member: Where to Start

The responsibility of caring for the needs of an aging loved one can be dizzying. Managing the specifics of their care needs can seem impossible to stay on top of and they evolve constantly. In any situation like this, it’s important to stop and consider a few crucial points to guide you down the right path in caring for your older family member. Once you have a better picture of their needs and where they will go, you can make an informed plan of action for their care.

What Level of Care is Required

When you first approach the topic of providing support for your loved ones’ care, their needs will likely be basic. Perhaps things like helping with transportation to and from doctor’s appointments if they’re no longer driving themselves. If their mental state begins to decline you will need to be ready to take a more active role in ensuring that any treatment plans are being followed diligently, and this can include the administration of medications. It’s at this point that the stakes are much higher for personal accountability, as any errors in proper medication administration can have dire and potentially life-threatening consequences.

If the idea of managing the dosing of several medications multiple times each day seems overwhelming or simply impossible due to your schedule and obligations, you may want to start thinking ahead. Perhaps utilizing a care tool or utilizing the services of an in-home care giver to manage the aspects of treatment that you’re not comfortable performing or to ensure the safety and health of your loved one when you’re not around.

At some point, the needs of a loved one can rise to the level where constant care and observation are required around the clock. For even the most dedicated and able family member this level of care simply isn’t possible to maintain. In order to guarantee the health and safety of your family member, they will need to move into a residential care facility. There, skilled medical professionals can make sure that every aspect of their needs, mental and physical, are managed and treated with the utmost care.

Managing Costs

The transition between various stages of care comes with many considerations, but the most pressing is often financial. Depending on the insurance coverage your loved one has and your own financial situation, costs and the impact of them can vary drastically.

You need to become well-versed in the benefits that your family member has at their disposal. With the number of prescriptions numbering into double digits, costs on even basic medications can sometimes get out of hand. Always use a service like GoodRX to make sure you’re getting the best prices on any medications. Often your insurance copay can be higher than the cost afforded to you by the groups that GoodRX and other services utilize.

The biggest costs however come when your time or ability is no longer enough to care for your family member and a medical professional needs to be hired for in-home or residential care. It’s important that if your loved ones’ needs anticipate the use of this more intensive level of care, to plan early.

Consider Their Ability to Manage Finances and Decisions

Perhaps the most difficult part of having an aging family member is the possibility of mental decline. With it comes the emotional burden but also potential responsibility for the well-being of your loved one. When they can no longer manage their medical needs it’s often not long before the matter of personal finances needs to be addressed.

As was mentioned before, if you and your loved one anticipate a time in their future where these needs will need to be managed by someone else, it’s crucial to have a plan in place prior to that time. This can include setting aside money for future care and setting up something like an advanced directive so you have the legal authority to act on their behalf should they become incapacitated or unable to represent their best interests adequately.

Keep it All Together

Making sure that you’re executing all aspects of your loved ones’ treatment plan is critical, but with a dizzying number of medications and appointments, it can be overwhelming to say the least. You’ll quickly end up with a book of medication administration records that can be impossible to keep track of, and even worse you won’t be able to provide oversight to the medical professionals guiding their care.

Synkwise makes managing every aspect of your family members’ care far simpler. In one place you can keep track of their medication administration, upcoming appointments as well as tracking vitals to help their doctors identify trends in health that can be addressed proactively. And if the time ever comes where your loved one needs to have their care managed entirely by a residential facility you can transfer the records of their care easily and securely, providing the most complete picture of their health for the best possible care.
