Arizona Assisted Living Licensing Has Gone Digital: What It Means for Providers

Arizona assisted living providers are seeing another sign that digital compliance is becoming the new normal.

The Arizona Department of Health Services currently requires assisted living facility licensing applications and renewals to be submitted electronically through its Licensing Management System. ADHS no longer accepts paper applications or renewal forms.

This requirement applies specifically to the licensing process. It does not mean Arizona currently requires assisted living providers to use an electronic health record or electronic medication administration record.

Still, the direction is clear: State oversight and provider operations are becoming increasingly digital. Facilities that choose to organize licensing documents, resident records, medication documentation, and other required information electronically may find it easier to keep records current and accessible.

Providers should confirm they can access the ADHS system, prepare renewal documents in an upload-ready format, and save copies of submitted materials and confirmations for their records.

The takeaway: Arizona may not require an EHR or eMAR today, but waiting for a mandate is not the only reason to modernize. Going digital now can improve organization, reduce paperwork, and help facilities remain ready for whatever comes next.

Licensing is only one part of the paperwork assisted living providers manage. Synkwise brings resident records, medication documentation, progress notes, and daily care tasks into one system. Book a demo to see how it could fit your facility.
